The Benders and the Martial Art Styles used in Avatar
In the mythical world of the Avatar certain individuals within each of the four nations (Water Tribes, Earth Kindom, Fire Nation and Air Nomads) are capable of manipulating their natural element, (water, earth, fire and air). These gifted individuals are called benders and their movements are heavily based on various forms of Chinese martial arts.
